Mile High HideAway - Description
Whether you're planning a romantic getaway for two - or a fun retreat for the whole family, Mile High HideAway has it all. Easy access to the village, AND the privacy of a secluded mountainside home in the treetops. Take in the spectacular panoramic views. Watch the parade of fauna, from deer munching on manzanita to the "squirrel circus" on the deck. Relax in the spa while soaking up the last rays of sun, setting over the mountain. With 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, it sleeps 9 comfortably. And - the 84 Channel TV, Playstation (in "The Bunkhouse" downstairs), Ping Pong and Cornhole games ensure no kid is ever bored.
"Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." ~ John Muir
Why Idyllwild? Shhh. It's one of those best kept secrets. Long a haven for artists, musicians, writers and craftsfolk - not to mention spiritualists, hikers and nature lovers. Nestled in the gorgeous San Jacinto mountains, it's a 2 hour drive from LA, just an hour from Palm Springs. Did you know it has a Golden Retriever for a mayor?
As for what's to do, check out Jazz in The Pines, the Festival of Cinema in March, or 10 days of Classical Concerts in August. Like adult beverages? Sample some hoppy treats at Idyllwild Brew Pub - or go for a tasting at the Middle Ridge Winery. As for eateries, there's something for everyone from fancy (Restaurant Gastrognome, Ferro) to down home (The Lumber Mill, Mile High Cafe). Feeling artsy? Paint your own pottery at Earth 'n' Fire. Or enjoy one of the shows at the Arts Alliance. And don't forget to take a hike - and enjoy the view.
